With the MagneticScreenScale, you can quickly and non-destructively verify the authenticity of gold objects such as bars or coins. This makes it possible to detect tungsten inclusions or other foreign metal cores without drilling or otherwise damaging the object. On the contrary: the ingots or coins do not even need to be removed from their blister packs or plastic capsules. Simply place them in the target area above the magnetic measuring head and you will obtain a clear result in the form of a differential weight.

Exploits the magnetic properties of precious metals.
The measurement principle is based on the different magnetic properties of materials. While precious metals such as gold and silver exhibit diamagnetic behaviour, typical high-density counterfeits such as tungsten, tantalum or molybdenum are paramagnetic. This difference makes it possible to detect the presence of foreign metal cores made of these paramagnetic metals.

The depth of penetration depends on the electrical conductivity of the metal: up to 650 µm on each side for .900/.916 gold, i.e. a total of 1.3 mm, approximately 250 µm for pure silver and 350 µm for pure gold. Thanks to the analysis of numerous counterfeits, we know that the GoldScreenSensor is suitable for objects up to 50 grams, for which thickness is the limiting factor. The GoldScreenSensor can test coins from 1/4 ounce and ingots from 10 grams (the measuring coil must be completely covered).
